The song authored by the young artist was chosen within the frames of the “Euro Hit: Song for Country, Pride for History“ contest, organized by the radio station Hit FM, music channel M1 and Borys Kolesnikov’s Foundation (Kolsenikov is the current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine). „Вболівай” (Root for!) – a reggae song (here) – was chosen from among 100487 applications.
The author Dmytro Holub will receive a cash award from Borys Kolesnikov – USD 25,000 for music and USD 25,000 for lyrics. In addition, the Foundation allocates USD 100,000 more for making a video. The official anthem of Euro 2012 is Oceana’s “Endless Summer”. The results of the contest for an unofficial Polish anthem of the sport event are to be announced on 28 March (details).
